My camera and me.

Hi there, and thanks for visiting London Life.

So, how did this all begin? About three years ago, I was working close to Tower Bridge, and I had the most stunningly beautiful walk into work each morning, taking in the views of Canary Wharf, the Tower of London, and the fabulous new glass fronted office developments at More London which is also home to the Greater London Authority headquarters. The area provided much photographic inspiration, and at around the same time, I came across Tumblr, which offered a great outlet for my burgeoning creativity.

London Life started off as a place to post photos of peculiar sights in London and then sparked off an interest in photography, and has now become somewhere for me to show off my pictures!

I use a Canon 450D, a very trusty DSLR. My kit is fairly basic. I have three lenses, a Canon 18-55mm, a Canon 90-300mm zoom, and a Cosina 19-35mm wide-angle lens. I also have a couple of filters, one for portraits and a couple for blue and red skies. I bought most of my kit off Ebay as I’m an amateur so there’s no point in me spending hundreds of pounds on kit till I know what I’m doing with it!

Over time, London Life’s gathered a fair old following; at the moment there are around 13,000 of you! It’s incredibly flattering, and I feel the success of London Life has been down to one guiding principle - that everything on here is my own work.

I also try to take pictures of life in London that can’t be found two-a-penny on Google Images. If I stuffed London Life with pictures of Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, and red telephone boxes, I think it’d get pretty humdrum. So I try to capture the spirit of London by taking pictures of people or things that one doesn’t normally get to see unless you’re actually here.

Speaking of which, a great many of you are from the US (mostly California and New York), and from across Europe. Most of you are aged between 15 and 30 years, and you’re pretty much split down the middle either working full time, or studying. With that in mind, I’m adding some pages to London Life to offer some helpful suggestions for tourists and students - so please do send me suggestions if you know of a little gem you’d like to share with us all!

That’s all for now folks - do please keep coming back!

Best wishes,

Sean x
